Roy Harris Kimura Seminar in Sherbrooke was an Awesome Event!

We had a great time at the Roy Harris Seminar this weekend. We spent both days working on the Kimura armlock from many different positions. Mr. Harris showed a lot of essential details to tighten up the basic kimura and it's various entries, as well as several more obscure entries that are lesser known.

Roy was also nice enough to give us a few more hours of his time then expected, allowing us to get an even deeper understanding of this great submission.

We're looking forward to bringing Mr. Harris to Sherbrooke in the future.

Thanks everyone for attending and supporting the event!

Rich

For those of you who have not been to a Roy Harris seminar before, let me tell you a few things about who Roy Harris is and what the seminars are like. Nomad Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has been associated with Roy Harris for 5 years. The techniques taught at our club and the curriculum for belt grading are a direct reflection of his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu system. The things that you learn at a Roy Harris seminar can be easily transferred into your BJJ arsenal of techniques that you use now. Roy Harris is sought out all over the world and he has numerous affiliate clubs. He is unlike any other BJJ high-level instructor because he is renown for his teaching and instructional abilities.

He has a very systematic and scientific way of teaching and can answer any question you have with a practical solution. For these reasons we have had a great relationship with Roy Harris over the last 5 years.

When Roy Harris teaches a seminar he starts with the fundamental movements and slowly progresses through the topic. This gives beginner, intermediate and advanced students the opportunity to learn the technique in extreme detail and work their way upward. No matter your experience level, you will gain a substantial amount from his seminars. For more information visit Roy Harris go to www.royharris.com

Don't forget to bring a notebook and a pen. We will be reviewing the seminar techniques in our regular BJJ classes after the seminar but only with those who attended the seminar.

See you all there,
Rich Martens

Benoit Sinave Competed at the ADCC and Abu Dhabi PRO in Ontario!

We had a great time in Toronto this weekend. These two tournaments were run in conjunction with the MMA Expo which had several displays and opportunities to meet MMA icons.

Saturday was the Abu Dahbi Pro Gi Tournament. Ben went in the Blue/White belt division and unfortunately lost his first match on points, but fought hard till the end.

The next day Ben enter the ADCC no-gi tournament and won a Bronze medal.

He had three fights. He won is first with a rear naked choke, lost his second via points, and won his third with a tight triangle choke (His opponent tried to escape by slamming Ben on his back).

Ben performed very well, and we're looking forward to his next competition!

Testimonials

Vivek Nath - UWO Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Club

Having Rich Marten conduct a seminar at my club was a choice I wish I'd made much, much earlier. As someone who has many seminars under his belt, I can confidently state the Rich's instruction is at the top of the heap. With a fine attention to details, and a genuine concern for all seminar participants, Rich imparted BJJ knowledge with a clarity, focus, and structure that impressed us all. What really stood out was how he actively monitored each student's learning and controlled the pace of instruction as not to overwhelm. He would give select information to students depending on their individual needs, questions, and progress. Rich was one of the few seminar instructors I've encountered that actively sought participant questions and enthusiastically answered all of them! I was really impressed how Rich also acknowledged his own limitations and focused on what he felt we needed, and what he could teach effectively.  Rich provided conceptual information, techniques and drills that greatly informed my instruction and will keep us busy training for many, many months!

Rich is a very down-to-Earth, friendly and generous person, and as with all Harris International-trained black belts, he has set a high standard for instruction.  I highly recommend him to anyone of any level who wants to skyrocket his or her technical knowledge of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

We will be having him back in the near future (and hopefully for many years to come!)!
